WHAT'S NEW
Check this page periodically for announcements and updates.

August 2005 |
8/5 | Profiles and Memories. Just a reminder that those who haven't submitted a profile or their memories of high school can do so at any time (see navigation bar on the left for links). Memories are posted on the Submit Memories page. A couple of people have submitted profiles and memories recently - so make sure to check periodically for new ones. |
8/5 | Bank Account. Bill Dabney opened a no-maintenance fee checking account at his credit union with the money we had left over/collected at the reunion. The account will draw very little interest, so we're optimistic that we will avoid any real tax liability. The total in the account (after paying the $1 new account fee) is $996.36.
8/5 | Message Board. We now have a message board. We'll have a link to the message board on the navigation bar to the left at some point, but for now you can just click here. You'll have to register before you can log on and use it. Select a username (preferably your actual name so we'll know who wrote your posts) and password. You should receive a confirmation email shortly thereafter with a link to activate your account. In addition to being able to post and reply to others' posts, there's also a private messaging feature. There's a FAQ link if you have trouble with anything but if that doesn't answer your questions, you can email Hope. Feel free to pass along the message board address to people we know from other Northside classes. They are welcome to register and use the board. There's even a separate forum specifically for other classes. |

July 2005 |
7/14 | Reunion Details. See the Reunion Agenda page for details on the reunion, including a summary of events and finances. |
7/11 | More Photos/Video. Photos from the reunion dinner and Sunday brunch as well as a few short video clips are up on the Submit Photos page. Unless someone sends more, that's all we've got. |
7/10 | Reunion Photos. Photos from Friday night and the Saturday picnic are up on the Submit Photos page. More to come later. |
7/4 | It Was Awesome! If you missed it -- you really missed it. Sanjiv Mahajan pounding shots, Rhett Butler buying endless rounds of some horrid Stoli/Red Bull concoction, Bret James (Pop-O-Matic alternate) getting his groove on like he was still in high school, Russ Ellis squeezed into his old football jacket...quite a weekend. Everyone looks fantastic, and we have collectively produced some of the most beautiful children on the planet. Photos, a few short video clips, a financial summary and more details will be posted sometime this month. If you attended the reunion, be sure to email your favorite reunion highlights and we'll post them here. |
June 2005 |
6/29 | Money. We will be collecting money during the reunion weekend for costs we haven't covered yet. In wanting to have as many classmates attend the reunion as possible, we let a few people register after the deadline had passed and included them in the catering counts even though they had not yet paid. Now some of those folks aren't coming, but we still have to pay the caterers for them. In addition, we have incurred some costs (for this website, the form software used for RSVPs and profiles, and decorations) that haven't been included in the reunion price per person. If each classmate who attends the reunion can kick in $15-20, that will cover everything. Anything we collect in excess of these costs will be put into an account to be used for the next reunion and keeping this website going. |
6/29 | Attention Musicians! Mike Mayes will be bringing a guitar and suggested that those of you who play instruments bring them to the picnic on Saturday. |
6/28 | Decorating. We'll be putting up decorations in the banquet room on Saturday afternoon around 3pm and could use some help. If you can volunteer (probably an hour or less), email info@northside1985.com to let us know. |
6/23 | If You Didn't RSVP or Pay Already. We've been told that some people living in and around Jackson who haven't registered and paid in advance may be planning to attend the reunion thinking that they can pay when they get there. Because everything must be paid (caterers, room rental fees, etc) prior to the reunion, we have only included in our final counts those people who RSVP'd and paid already. If you show up to a reunion event but did not register AND PAY in advance, the cost will be $60 per adult. However, no food was ordered for you so don't plan to eat. |
6/21 | What Next? Check this site a week or two after the reunion for photos from all the events. We will be also post information about the discussion at the reunion about whether or not to plan for a 25 year reunion. If you are not coming to the reunion but are interested in attending a 25 year, email us at info@northside1985.com. In addition, if we want to keep this website going as a way to keep track of everyone and share planning details for the next reunion, we need you to contribute! It costs about $100 per year for the domain name and site hosting (the online forms which we are using for RSVPs, profiles and survey are extra). You can contribute at the reunion, or mail or PayPal a contribution to Bill Dabney, who is currently volunteering as class treasurer. |
6/21 | Reunion Registration Is Closed. We are not taking any more RSVPs for the reunion (unless you have previously made arrangements with Hope Morrison to RSVP late). If you RSVP'd already but have not yet paid, you only have a couple more days to get your check to Bill Dabney. Otherwise we will not be able to include you. |
6/12 | Last Call For RSVPs/Payment. This is the last week to RSVP for the reunion. If you want to attend, fill out the RSVP form to let us know. Click the Reunion RSVP link on the left side of this page to fill out the form. We can work with anyone who needs special accommodations for paying, but barring special circumstances we must receive your payment by June 17. |
6/12 | Profiles. If you haven't submitted your profile yet, please do so as soon as you can -- especially if you are planning to attend the reunion. We'll be presenting information about our class as a group (such as what percentage has one kid, two kids, etc, or what percentage lives outside of Tennessee, etc) which will be taken from the profiles that have been submitted. |
6/3 | Reunion Program. We plan to have a short program during the reunion Saturday night, before the DJ starts playing. If you have suggestions for what you would like the program to include, please email info@northside1985.com. |
6/3 | Reunion Status. With the current RSVPs, we will be able to cover all the reunion costs -- assuming everyone sends their payment by June 17. We will continue to accept RSVPs prior to the payment deadline. |
May 2005 |
5/17 | Final Reunion Payment Deadline. If you plan to attend the reunion, we must receive your payment no later than JUNE 17. Once you RSVP online, we will email you with your total. All reunion costs must be paid in advance, so we must receive everyone's payment in advance. If you do not plan to attend, it would be a big help if you would simply fill out the RSVP form with zeros to let us know. |

5/16 | Final Push To Contact Classmates. So far we have been able to contact only about a quarter of our class. The numerous requests for help contacting classmates that have been posted on this site and sent to those for whom we have email addresses have resulted in very little help. Emailing to let us know what town a person lives in isn't that helpful. We need you to actually track people down, talk to them, and let them know they need to (1) email us their contact information and (2) RSVP for the reunion online immediately. We know alot of classmates still live in and around Jackson but we haven't heard from them and don't have a phone number or email address for them. PLEASE HELP US! The reunion is only about 6 weeks away. |
5/11 | Reunion Status. Several people have emailed wondering if the reunion is still on, given the number of RSVPs. The reunion is definitely still on. We've received a few more RSVPs and know of a few classmates who are probably coming but haven't RSVP'd yet. If for some reason we don't have at least 80 attendees, we'll scale back a little, but the general schedule won't change. If you plan to attend but haven't RSVP'd yet, PLEASE DO SO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You must pay in advance in order to attend. You can RSVP by clicking this link. |
5/2 | Missing Classmates. The Missing Classmates page has been updated. All the classmates for whom we have contact information have (hopefully!) been deleted, so please take another look and let us know if you are in touch with any of the MANY people left on the list. Also, if you have any good ideas for finding people, please email us. We have already run two announcements in the local paper, asked several local radio stations to run announcements, and posted on classmates.com. We need ideas for finding classmates as well as volunteers who are willing to do some of the work finding and contacting missing classmates -- there are about three people who have done almost all the calls so far. |
April 2005 |
4/16 | Another RSVP Update. As of today, we have a total of 59 people (classmates and spouses) who have RSVP'd. We need at least 80 to cover costs. If you are in touch with any classmates who have not yet responded (all who have RSVP'd are listed on the "See Who's Coming" page), it would be a big help if you would let them know we need RSVPs as soon as possible. For those with unusual circumstances who may not be able to commit or pay this far in advance, we can make arrangements on an individual basis. Anyone who has unusual circumstances and those without internet access should call Hope at 512/302-9903. |
4/14 | RSVP Update. April 15 is the RSVP deadline, but so far we've only gotten 24 responses. This isn't enough to cover the costs of the current plans. The deadline can be extended, but not by much as we will lose reservations if we don't have enough money for deposits. Please RSVP immediately if you plan to attend. If for whatever reason you need a little extra time to pay for your reservation, we can make arrangements on an individual basis. |
March 2005 |
3/29 | Reunion RSVPs.
You MUST RSVP and pay IN ADVANCE to attend the reunion. There will be NO pay-at-the-event. We have to pay for everything (deposits and final totals) in advance. And while we are looking forward to seeing all of you, we don't love you enough to pay your way ourselves. ;) So if you plan to attend, please RSVP before the April 15 deadline. |
3/26 | Favorite Song From High School? Remember to email your favorite songs from 1980-1985 so the DJ can include them on the reunion playlist. |
3/18 | Jackson Sun Announcement. Thanks to Jan Watson (former 8th grade math teacher at NSJH and current NSHS assistant principal) for passing along notice of our announcement running in the Jackson Sun. FYI, faculty are welcome to attend all reunion events. |
3/18 | Profiles. If you submit a profile and don't see it show up on the site immediately, don't worry. It may take several days since keeping the site up is being worked around work and family obligations. Several profiles are currently in queue to be added to the site, these will probably be up by mid-next week. |
3/10 | RSVPs. We have received very few RSVPs so far. Even though the deadline is still 5 weeks away, please go ahead and RSVP if you know you're going to attend. We have several deposits we have to put down (on facility rental, catering, etc) as soon as possible. |
3/9 | Advertising Update. Holly (Hubbell) Jackson asked the following local radio stations to run a public service announcement about the reunion: Power 92, KIX 96, Newtalk 101.5, Q102, KOOL 103, Eagle 104, 105.3, WYN 107(106.9), STAR 107.7, WDXI 1310, WTJS 1390. Hope Morrison submitted an announcement to the Jackson Sun's Gatherings listing. If you hear or read our announcement, please email to let us know. |
3/9 | Missing Classmates. Remember, you are considered Missing unless we have your contact information. Just because you still live in or around Jackson or are aware of reunion planning doesn't mean WE know where you are! The Missing Classmates list is still pretty long. While an email address is preferred, a phone number and/or address will work. Email contacts@northside1985.com to let us know how to contact you. |
February 2005 |
2/23 | Contacing classmates by phone. A couple of people have been making phone calls to classmates for whom we have no email address. Can anyone in Jackson help with this? If so, let us know. |
2/23 | Message board. We're thinking about adding a message board to the site. Would anybody use one? Email to let us know if this is something you would use or not. We don't want to make the effort unless enough people want one. |
2/22 | Contacing local radio/TV stations. Holly (Hubbell) Jackson has agreed to contact local radio and TV stations about broadcasting a reunion announcement. If you can help, please email Holly. |
2/18 | We need help advertising the reunion. In order to reach as many 1985 graduates as possible, we need someone from Jackson to approach local radio and TV stations and ask them to broadcast a public service announcement about the reunion. If you are willing to help with this, email info@northside1985.com. |
2/18 | We need help locating classmates! We currently need contact information for about 170 people, plus faculty and foreign students. Please check the Missing Classmates page and contact us if you know how to reach any of those folks. |
2/18 |
What were your favorite songs from 1980 to 1985? Email info@northside1985.com and we'll put them on a list for the reunion DJ.
2/17 |
Welcome to the official website of Northside High School's Class of 1985! The site includes information about our 20 year reunion and how to RSVP. Please pass along the website address to any 1985 graduates you know, as we are trying to get as many people as possible to RSVP online. |
